Listen to this article:

As fleet operators navigate the nuanced transition to electric vehicles, reliable network connectivity in EV charging solutions is a critical factor upon which successful electrification projects are built.

To quantify and better understand the current state of EV charging networks and customer experience, EverCharge, a leading provider of vertically integrated EV charging hardware, software, and services, commissioned a comprehensive survey conducted by Coleman/VISASQ, an independent, third-party expert network service provider. This research gathered insights from 500 respondents across fleet, workplace, and multi-unit property segments to provide an objective assessment of the state of EV charging networks.

The takeaways are critical in understanding key areas of needed improvement, how certain solution providers are addressing them, and which providers are coming out ahead in reliable EV charging. Here’s what respondents said:

Electrification delivers substantial business benefits–beyond sustainability

Electrification has yielded significant advantages for fleet operations. Fuel cost reductions were achieved by 67% of fleets following EV charging implementation. Additionally, 51% successfully met regulatory requirements, while 77% reported enhanced sustainability outcomes. These three benefits emerged as the primary objectives accomplished by fleet operators post-implementation.

Fleet operations face the most critical network reliability challenges

The survey revealed that fleet operations experience the most significant network reliability issues across all segments. Twenty-four percent of fleet managers reported moderate to severe network connectivity problems with their charging infrastructure. Notably, fleet operations stood alone as the only segment in our study where respondents indicated severe disruptions.

Network connectivity disrupts fleet operations most frequently

Among all segments surveyed, fleets reported the highest incidence of frequent connectivity failures, with problems occurring 1-3 times weekly. Beyond these regular disruptions, an additional 32% of fleet respondents encountered occasional network issues with their primary charging provider, experiencing problems 1-3 times monthly.

EverCharge leads in charging network reliability and customer service

Participants who identified EverCharge as their primary vendor reported the lowest incidence of network connectivity issues among all providers, with 86% reporting no or minor issues, and nobody noting any severe issues. Furthermore, the data shows that 71% of EverCharge customers encounter connectivity issues just 0-3 times annually, representing the lowest frequency of disruptions among all primary vendors evaluated in the study. Additionally, respondents rated EverCharge as the only vendor that did not have any unaddressed issues for more than 48 hours, and had no severe issues reported.

The reliability of your EV charging network will directly impact the reliability of your entire EV charging operations. Solid reliability means more vehicles on the road, which means better business outcomes for you. The data speaks for itself: electrifying your fleet brings significant benefits including lowered fuel costs and meeting sustainability goals and regulations, ultimately making the business case strong.

The data gathered from survey participants only underscores the critical importance of selecting the right charging partner to provide consistent performance and reliability.

EverCharge’s standout reliability metrics and customer care satisfaction illustrate that dependable charging solutions exist and are transforming the transition to fleet electrification.
