In partnership with: Trillium
Today’s fleets have a lot to navigate. Transportation and logistics are essential to keeping the country and the economy running. Today, fleets are under more pressure to perform while also reducing emissions, increasing efficiency and cutting fuel costs.
When fleets are trying to accomplish it all, the last thing they should worry about is finding a fueling partner they can trust. With over 25 years’ experience working with fleets across all alternative fuels, Trillium supplies fleets with price-competitive, clean fuel solutions from electricity to renewable natural gas.

Starting at the Station
From the very beginning, Trillium partners with fleets to plan, design, finance and build customized fueling solutions. At the station, Trillium’s proactive approach to real-time monitoring, maintenance, and service mean our CNG stations run 10% to 20% more efficiently than others—enabling fleets to save both time and money while fueling.
From there, Trillium meets with fleet customers quarterly to evaluate their evolving fueling needs and adjust equipment and energy supply as needed—ensuring that fleets are never overpaying and always have access to the price-competitive fuel and clean energy to meet their evolving needs. Trillium offers account-based payment cards that enable customers to track individual driver fueling transactions, easily add or remove drivers, and monitor costs via an online reporting tool, offering fleets increased insight and transparency into their fueling costs.
Cost and Environmental Benefits with CNG
Fleets already see a fuel cost savings when comparing CNG to diesel – CNG often provides fleets a 30% to 50% savings on a diesel gallon equivalent (DGE) basis.
CNG often provides fleets a 30% to 50% savings on a diesel gallon equivalent (DGE) basis.
Besides being less expensive than diesel, natural gas is more price stable. That’s because the commodity cost of natural gas is typically only 20% of the total cost of CNG at the pump, meaning any increases in the commodity price do not have a significant impact on the price at the pump, protecting U.S.-sourced natural gas from the price fluctuations so typical with gasoline and diesel. Fueling with natural gas is one way to minimize price volatility, giving fleets the confidence needed to accurately plan long term.
CNG delivers environmental benefits on top of cost savings. The newest natural gas engines produce 90% fewer NOx emissions than the EPA’s current heavy-duty emission standard.

Doubling Down with RNG
When fleets fuel with renewable natural gas, the savings can really add up. RNG combines the cost savings already provided by traditional natural gas with the environmental benefits of fueling with a low carbon, renewable fuel.
RNG is produced by capturing and cleaning the methane that is produced when organic matter from landfills, wastewater treatment plants or even dairy farms decomposes. A drop-in replacement for CNG, RNG offers fleets a seamless fueling and performance experience. Trillium ensures that the RNG offered in stations across the country can be priced just as competitively as traditional CNG. In some stations, such as Trillium’s more than 45 public and private CNG fueling stations across California, RNG makes up most of the natural gas being offered.
RNG provides such a significant environmental benefit that it can be translated to real monetary value through programs like California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) program. In states with these programs in place, renewable fuel producers and providers can earn money by producing or supplying RNG through low carbon fuel markets.
Renewable fuel producers and providers can earn money by producing or supplying RNG through low carbon fuel markets.
The lower the carbon content of the fuel (or the higher negative carbon intensity score), the more real monetary value the fuel produces. High carbon input sources, like dairy waste for instance, are the most valuable because they capture and reuse the most climate-altering emissions.
Trillium can pass on this environmental benefit in the form of real cost savings for fleets at the pump. All fleets are left to do is fuel with RNG supplied at Trillium and Love’s stations across the country, and they can be confident they are saving money and emissions, enabling fleets to go beyond carbon neutrality while cutting fuel costs.
Flexible Pricing Models
In addition to offering competitive fueling prices, Trillium helps contracted fleet customers to determine the best fuel pricing options that work for their unique operating and financial needs.
Whether that’s determining a flat, fixed fuel or energy price over the long term, or hedging a future price of fuel, Trillium has developed several flexible pricing and contract options to fit the needs of every fleet, ensuring they are operating confidently and paying the best price possible. Fuel and energy pricing are notoriously complex and complicated, often leaving fleets with more questions than answers on how fuel pricing is determined. That’s why Trillium has built an expert wholesale commodity trading group in its Houston headquarters to ensure we always secure the best deal for our fleet customers.
Trillium works with fleet customers to ensure they fully understand how their fuel pricing is determined.
At both retail locations and private stations, Trillium works with fleet customers to ensure they fully understand how their fuel pricing is determined, breaking down all of the factors that comprise fuel and energy pricing so fleets have complete insight into the final purchase price.
Backed by Love’s
Trillium is an extension of Love’s Travel Stops, which means even more savings, flexibility, fueling locations and financing options for fleets. When fleets fuel with Trillium, it means they are backed by Love’s and its long history of servicing the needs of the trucking industry. And, by leveraging the vast Love’s and Trillium network of fueling stations across the country, fleets can bundle multiple fuels and services to fit the needs of their fleets today and well into the future – whether that’s CNG, RNG, electricity, hydrogen, biodiesel or renewable diesel, or even tires, DEF and mechanical services.
Fleets have enough to worry about other than whether they’re overpaying for fuel. Fueling with Trillium means flexible, smart and fleet-centric pricing for all alternative fuels.
