Commercial vehicle emissions laws in California are among the strictest in the country. To comply with them, truck operators must learn as much as possible about the zero-emission vehicles currently available on the market. They must also learn the infrastructure requirements to operate them and government funding programs to help subsidize them. For most operators, this is a full-time job added to their hectic work schedules.
There are several zero-emission restrictions that truck fleet operators must learn about and abide by. Some of these include the California Truck and Bus Regulation, the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation and the Port of LA and Long Beach’s Clean Truck requirements. With the help of programs such as HVIP, Carl Moyer, and the Clean Truck Fund, state and local agencies assist in the transition to cleaner trucks.
Considering all these mandates, the Harbor Trucking Association (HTA) wants to make it easier for truck operators to learn about the various state and local emissions regulations. This will enable them to find the right truck for their duty cycle, get financed, insured, and secure state, federal, and local subsidies. HTA has created a vehicle ride and drive event to allow fleet operators to fulfill all those needs. Fleets can also talk to companies and agencies offering financing, leasing, insurance, truck-as-a-service, and maintenance. Agencies will be on hand to discuss state and local mandates, funding opportunities and infrastructure programs.
Companies and agencies that will be there include Kenworth, Peterbilt, BYD, Lightning eMotors, Lion Electric, Orange EV, Hyzon, XOS, Nikola, Phoenix Motorcars, TeraWatt, Voltera, Forum Mobility, ENGS Financial, Tom’s Truck Center, Rush Truck Center, TEC Equipment, Inland Kenworth, Calstart, GNA, Electrify America, Southern California Edison, HTA, and the Port of Long Beach.
“This is a great opportunity for fleet operators to drive several zero-emission class 4-8 vehicles and gather information in order to make the right decision for their operations,” said Matt Schrap, HTA CEO. “This event will also provide a chance to network with other fleets and industry professionals, discuss best practices and gain valuable insights about zero-emission vehicle solutions.”
HTA had a successful ride and drive event last December at the Port of Long Beach. They expect this one to be larger and even more beneficial to truck operators.
HTA’s SoCal Ride & Drive is scheduled for Wed, March 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dignity Health Sports Arena in Carson, California. Complimentary lunch will be provided for all attendees. For more info, contact HTA.
