The third day of the record-breaking ACT Expo was filled with educational breakout sessions covering all the fascinating trends in and around the clean tech industry.
Whether it was covering how fleets are accelerating heavy-duty zero-emission vehicle deployments or how the industry is revving up the move to autonomy, attendees were given not only a vision of the future, but what is happening right now to push the needle forward. The challenges school districts are facing in their efforts to electrify, as well as the opportunities to secure funding, was discussed at length during the Electrifying School Bus Fleets: Challenges and Triumphs breakout session.
Low carbon fuels stole some of the spotlight away from electrification during the Renewable Low Carbon Fuels for Increased Fleet Sustainability session, which included speakers from the Propane Education & Research Council, Penske Transportation Solutions, Neste, and BayoTech.
Next came an interesting insider look at how companies are approaching environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, with GNA CEO Erik Neandross moderating an impressive panel including Craig Harper, Chief Sustainability Officer, EVP, J.B. Hunt Transport; Matt McLelland, VP of Sustainability and Innovation, Covenant Logistics; Ari Silkey, GM, North America Surface Transportation, Amazon; and Debbie Kalish, Director, Enterprise Sustainability and ESG Initiatives, American Tire Distributors.
The second round of winners of the ACT Expo Fleet Awards were announced following the ESG session, which included:
- Leading Airport Fleet: Denver International Airport
- Leading Carrier: Dependable Highway Express
- Leading Private Fleet: Southern California Gas Company
- In It for the Long Haul: Schwan’s Home Delivery
The main stage session was capped off by an overview of the current clean tech landscape by Tom Linebarger, Chairman and CEO of Cummins. Linebarger is an experienced executive with a deep understanding of the transportation industry and armed attendees with the knowledge of the cutting-edge technology Cummins and other industry stakeholders are developing to accelerate the transition to zero- and ultra-low-emission commercial vehicles.
Attendees were then given one last chance to visit the Expo Hall floor and learn everything and anything about the vehicles, fuels, and solutions on display.
